SIOTS provided comprehensive IOT&A services for the DoD’s largest ambulatory care center located at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA).

 

Over a 5-year planning and implementation period, SIOTS’ team provided over 75,000 man-hours, delivered $43M in commodities, and installed over 30,000 line items.

 

SIOTS conducted 3 sets of user meetings for 60+ departments to determine FF&E needs and optimize the CID and equipment packages. SIOTS conducted a complete inventory of the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center to assess the reuse potential of existing products within the newly built environment.

 

Ultimately 8,300 items were designated for reuse, while approximately 300 truckloads were sent to DRMO. SIOTS successfully coordinated the relocation of 70 departments and over 2,000 staff members, with no departmental closures lasting longer than 3 days.

Design Spotlight

The site design for the Lackland ACC included plazas and gardens throughout the building’s interior and rooftops. SIOTS’ artwork specialists commissioned the creation of 3 original sculptures by artist Matthew Placzek for the Lackland ACC sculpture garden.

SIOTS provided comprehensive IOT&A services for the U.S. Army Health Clinic Vilseck renovation and expansion project and Dental Clinic replacement. The scope of this project included the multi-phase transition and consolidation of services from 4 outlying buildings. Initial outfitting, transition planning, and procurement services were provided for the 11,500 SF clinic renovation, 41,900 SF clinic addition, and the new 16,685 SF dental clinic.

 

SIOTS was responsible for CONOPS development, Rehearsal of Concepts (ROC Drill), orientation planning, and public relations work promoting German National involvement.

 

Our team leveraged their expertise in project management, international logistics, German building design, environmental regulations, and operational processes to communicate project risks and ensure adherence to host nation regulations and user requirements throughout each step of this contract.

VA Activation Warehouse Monterey

SIOTS collaborated with the VA’s Integrated Project Team (IPT) to perform building activation services for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System’s (VAPAHCS) new Monterey Health Care Center (MHCC), located in the city of Marina on the former Fort Ord Army Base.

 

Activation services included receiving, inspecting, warehousing, transporting, and installing new FF&E and IT items. Our team validated the inventory list and oversaw the storage, delivery, placement, inspection, testing, certification, assembly, and final installation of approximately 18,000 unique commodities. All new items and boxes were moved from the warehouse to the MHCC through a meticulously planned delivery process.

U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Dental-Health Clinic Addition and Renovation

SIOTS provided comprehensive IOT&A services to the 10th Medical Group as part of the $25M USAFA Dental-Health Clinic addition and renovation project. SIOTS worked on this DBIO contract with Gilbane and Leo A Daly to outfit 2 new clinic wings spanning 61,000 SF.

 

The USAFA project was delivered in multiple phases and utilized 14,000 SF of temporary medical and pharmaceutical swing space providing continuous patient care throughout construction. This project upgraded aging facility infrastructure, right-sized departments, improved staff efficiencies, and provided new furniture, artwork, and medical equipment throughout the facility.

 

The USAFA project included a total overhaul of the Surgical Services Department including a complete renovation of all operating rooms and central sterile supply.  Five state-of-the-art OR’s were provided along with an entirely new Oral Surgery Department which supports the 10 MDG Dental Residency Program. Additionally, the project added a second MRI suite to increase patient throughput and reduce waiting times for MRI appointments.

Spangdahlem AB Medical-Dental Clinic Addition

SIOTS provided comprehensive IO&T and IO&C services for the Medical-Dental Clinic addition at Spangdahlem AB, Germany. The 3-story building addition features a large atrium that connects the old and new buildings. 

 

SIOTS conducted a comprehensive inventory and multiple user meetings to validate FF&E planning, maximize reuse, and minimize unnecessary spending, resulting in over $1.1M savings.  SIOTS conducted a complete review of the equipment and furniture list they were provided to identify discontinued equipment and capture any gaps in the basis of design. 

 

SIOTS crafted a Comprehensive Interior Design (CID) package, medical equipment plan, and a low voltage systems design to ensure that the final product could functionally and efficiently meet end user needs in the space available.

 

SIOTS planned multiple systems and extensively coordinated with the German National General Contractor through USACE and DHA to ensure the building utilities and features supported the required FF&E. Our medical equipment planners ensured that all utilities were designed to support the use of new equipment and notified the Government of any deficiencies to allow for correction. We carefully reviewed workflow and function for each space to achieve optimum placement of equipment and furniture within the newly built environment.

SIOTS provided comprehensive IOT&A services to the 82nd Medical Group as part of the $94M outpatient Medical-Dental Clinic project. SIOTS’ personnel worked through an extended design phase to ensure that product availability and technology were in line with DHA’s modernization plan.

 

The new clinic replaced a 60-year-old building that was initially designed as a hospital. This multi-phase contract seamlessly relocated 22 departments from the old facility to the clinic’s new central location.

Design Spotlight

SIOTS developed an artwork package that features the work of local and regional artists. SIOTS commissioned the creation of a Texas Mustang statue in honor of the 82nd Medical Group’s Mustang Medic mascot.

The new facility provides full veterinary and surgical care to Military Working Dogs across 5 installations, the pets of service members and veterans, and supports the work of Army food inspectors.

 

Design efforts included creating a healing environment with the flexibility to accommodate future layout changes and technology improvements to ensure the delivery of world-class veterinary care for years to come.

 

SIOTS has also provided initial outfitting services for veterinary clinics at U.S. Army Camp Ederle, Italy, U.S. Army Camp Zama, Japan, and U.S. Army Johnson Veterinary Treatment Clinic, West Point, NY.

SIOTS provided comprehensive IOT&A services to the 422d Medical Squadron as part of the RAF Croughton Medical-Dental Clinic replacement project. The new facility replaced a structure that was originally built as a dormitory in 1959 and did not meet modern medical standards.

 

The new clinic provides a patient and family centered environment which offers the same clinical services, but in a larger, modernized footprint that enhances the delivery of high-quality healthcare to the RAF Croughton community.

 

SIOTS provided project management, transition planning, comprehensive interior design, FF&E selection, procurement, and installation, public relations and media support, artwork, limited LVS, and international shipping logistics services under this contract.

Kirtland AFB Medical Clinic Renovation

SIOTS provided IOT&A services for a $16.9M renovation project which modernized 17 departments, 4 floors, and approximately 81,000 SF of the 377th Medical Group.

 

Our team utilized a Temporary Phasing Facility (TPF) and internal swing spaces to successfully accomplish renovations without closing the clinic during normal business hours. SIOTS utilized a 5-phase transition plan to relocate each department from their existing footprint to a temporary location, and back into their renovated spaces without disrupting services.

 

This project rounded out a 20-year master plan that brought the clinic and its operations into the 21st century. Design efforts included creating healing interiors with updated FF&E and the flexibility to accommodate future layout changes and technology improvements. Upgrades to clinic interiors and reception areas improved staff productivity and refreshed the outdated aesthetic of the building. 



Design Spotlight

SIOTS developed an artwork package that was inspired by the captivating landscapes of New Mexico. SIOTS’ artwork specialists commissioned artist Matthew Placzek to create “Canyon Reflection'', a 45-foot-by-20-foot sculptural mobile for the 377th MDG lobby.

Naval Health Clinic Hawaii, Medical-Dental Clinic Replacement

SIOTS provided IOT&A services for the Medical-Dental Clinic replacement located at the Marine Corps Base (MCB) Hawaii. The new facility consolidated 5 outdated provider locations into a single, 2-story state-of-the-art facility.

 

This project included planning and coordinating FF&E acquisition and installation services to support the transition and integration of medical services from MCB Hawaii Branch Health Clinic (BHC), 21st Dental Battalion, Regimental Aid Station, CLB3 Aid Station, and Wing Flight Line Clinic into the new facility.


SIOTS orchestrated the relocation of equipment and commodities from existing locations at BHC to support the consolidation of clinical services into the new clinic. Additionally, SIOTS provided disposition services to support the transfer of residual equipment and furnishings to the Defense Logistics Agency located at Pearl Harbor.
